Just one in three people approve of the job President Trump is doing to curb inflation, a new survey found.
Thirty-two percent of respondents in the poll, released Sunday by Reuters and Ipsos, approve of the job Trump is doing on inflation, a top issue he focused on during the presidential campaign. Battling inflation propelled him to victory in last November’s election after 58 percent of people said it would be a major factor determining their vote, Reuters noted.
Trump has sought to distance himself from the recent rise in inflation, arguing that he had “nothing to do” with the uptick since he returned to the White House and blamed former President Biden.
Majorities also disapprove of other priorities and actions during Trump’s first month back in the Oval Office, according to the survey.
It found that 65 percent of respondents oppose Trump renaming the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. It also found that 68 percent do not believe the U.S. should take over Gaza and resettle Palestinians, and 53 percent oppose creating a task force that cuts federal spending at the hands of tech billionaire Elon Musk.
The Reuters/Ipsos survey was conducted Feb. 13-18 among 4,145 U.S. adults and has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
