Ho, ho, ho? More like Jo, Jo, Jo(nas Brothers)! Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas are heading home for the holidays in their new Disney+ special, currently under the working title Jonas Brothers Christmas Movie, which is set to hit the streamer during this year’s holiday season, per a Disney announcement made on Tuesday (Jan. 28).
While the special will see the three brothers “face a series of escalating obstacles as they struggle to make it from London to New York in time to spend Christmas with their families,” they are also returning to their roots at Disney. After launching their music career in 2005 at Columbia Records — and eventually being dropped by the label — they signed with Hollywood Records, which is owned by Disney, in 2007, per People.
The band also starred in the Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock (2008) and its 2010 sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, playing members of the band Connect 3. They got to play themselves on the two-season-long Disney Channel sitcom Jonas, which became Jonas LA in its second season.
They also recorded “Send It On” for the company’s Friends for Change initiative in 2009 with fellow network stars Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez.
In a teaser that dropped on Tuesday (Jan. 28), the Jonas Brothers made their holiday special announcement paid homage to the Christmas classic Love Actually, putting their own spin on the film’s infamous poster scene.
Additionally, Variety reports that Chloe Bennet will be joining the Jonas Brothers in the Jonas Brothers Christmas Movie, which the three brothers are producing. According to the outlet, she plays Lucy, “a cardiothoracic surgeon and childhood friend of Joe’s” whom he bumps into at the airport, where “sparks fly” between the two old pals.
Fans that grew up with the talented trio know that isn’t the first Jonas Brothers movie to be made. Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience had a 2009 theatrical release, and its non-3D counterpart is streaming on Disney+. They also released Chasing Happiness on Prime Video in 2019, a documentary that coincided with the release of their Happiness Begins album, the first they collaborated on since 2009’s Lines, Vines and Trying Times.
As we wait for the Jonas Brothers Christmas Movie, you can listen to their 2019 holiday single “Like It’s Christmas” on repeat — I know I will be.
