Jimmy Kimmel is roasting Republicans for pushing to add President Trump to Mount Rushmore just days into his second presidency.
As Kimmel pointed out during his opening monologue on Tuesday’s episode of Live, Trump proposed the idea during his first term, but it was Rep. Anna Paulina Luna who recently proposed legislation to make the Republican dream come true.
“Remember when [Trump] pitched the idea of putting his own face on Mount Rushmore to Kristi Noem, who was governor of South Dakota at the time and she laughed, which was the appropriate response?” he recalled. “Well, that was years ago. Since then, Trump has done so much, he has so many new felonies under his belt, which is why a Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna — from Florida, of course — has introduced legislation to put President Trump’s face on Mt. Rushmore.”
Rep. Luna introduced a bill to have a carving of Trump included in Mount Rushmore, alongside Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
After sharing Rep. Luna’s social media post calling for supporters to “get carving,” Kimmel joked that “we must waste no time immortalizing our glorious leader’s numerous chins in stone.”
He then added, “It’s gonna be great 100 years from now when kids on field trips ask their teacher, ‘Who’s the one with the combover?’”
Kimmel did not mince his words as he pointed out that this was just another dramatic show of support from Republicans. “Trump’s ego was out of control the first time around, this time he’s got a bunch of knob gobblers buffing his ballsack 24/7 trying to impress him with how much they love him,” he boldly quipped.
He then asked if it may be “a bit premature” to make such a tribute to President Trump, a sentiment which has been echoed by other Republicans. But the proposal seems to be a “very popular idea among those who cannot name three of the four people on Mount Rushmore,” Kimmel joked.
Earlier this week, Kimmel blasted Trump for making sure to congratulate himself after the Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC Championships and made it to the Super Bowl for the third time in a row.
The President “took to Truth Social to congratulate the Chiefs and himself,” Kimmel explained on Monday’s (Jan. 27) Live, with a social media post that read, “Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs. What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers.”
The Live audience laughed as Kimmel pointed out, “That’s right. The real AFC champion is Donald Trump.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
