Jack Nicholson, 87, makes rare public appearance during ‘SNL 50’ anniversary special

Jack Nicholson stepped out for a rare public appearance at the star-studded “Saturday Night Live” anniversary special.

The “Shining” star celebrated 50 years of the beloved sketch comedy show at 30 Rock on Sunday alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest stars — including Kevin Coster, Kim Kardashian, Meryl Streep, Eddie Murphy and more.

Nicholson made a surprise cameo from the crowd to introduce pal Adam Sandler, who performed an original song about the show’s storied history.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Sandler,” Nicholson, 87, said as the audience erupted in applause.

The outing marked Nicholson’s first public appearance in nearly two years.

Sandler gave the three-time Oscar winner a shoutout before launching into his song.

“Yeah, baby! Let’s hear it for Jack, baby! Jack made it out tonight! Love you, brother,” Sandler, 58, exclaimed.

The two co-starred in the hit 2003 comedy “Anger Management,” where Nicholson played a quirky therapist tasked with helping Sandler’s character control his emotions.

Nicholson was joined by his 34-year-old daughter, Lorraine, whom he shares with ex-Rebecca Broussard. The “Departed” actor is also dad to five other adult children.

Nicholson wore all-black with a Yankees beret and purple-tinted sunglasses for the big night.

After the show, he was seen arriving back at his hotel with assistance, holding a cane for support.

Shockingly, Nicholson never hosted “SNL” during his decades-long career. However, he also made an appearance at the 40th anniversary special back in 2015.

The legendary actor has taken a step back from the public eye in the last decade, earning his last movie credit in 2010’s “How Do You Know.”

His last public appearance came in May 2023 when he attended the NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.

Weeks earlier, he also attended the Lakers’ playoff matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The longtime season ticket owner was welcomed back with a montage of his classic films as he watched the action courtside.

The outing marked nearly two years since Nicholson last sat at Crypto.som Arena — despite it once being his stomping grounds.

The “As Good As It Gets” actor was a staple in the stands during most of his career — especially during the Lakers’ Showtime era in the late ’90s and 2000s.

While his public appearances have become few and far between, his family occasionally shares rare family photos with the actor.
