The 2025 Oscar nominations are here, and as always, 10 films are in competition for the night’s top prize: Best Picture.
Of course, this slate of 10 includes both The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez, the Golden Globes winners for Best Motion Picture Drama and Musical/Comedy, respectively.
This year’s Best Picture lineup also features one biopic (A Complete Unknown, about the early career of Bob Dylan, and I’m Still Here, about Brazilian activist Eunice Paiva), four films based on books (Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Nickel Boys, and Wicked), two musicals (Wicked and Emilia Pérez), a sci-fi horror satire (The Substance), and even a handful of wholly original films not based on anything preexisting (Anora, and The Brutalist).
