How to watch 2025 Daytona 500 for free: Start time, streaming

A new NASCAR season opens today — if the rain holds off, that is.

At the time of writing, the Daytona 500 is still set to go today with a slight time adjustment — 1:30 p.m. ET instead of the previously announced 2:30 p.m. ET start time.

The Daytona 500 is the first race in the 36-race season, which is the first one to allow more than 40 drivers in a race thanks to a new Open Exemption Provisional rule that went into place. The OEP allows world-class drivers a guaranteed starting position in a race (in which they can’t receive playoff points, prize money, or race points for) as long as the request is put in at least 90 days before the race of choice.

Among this year’s field of racers are last season’s NASCAR Cup champion Joey Logano, last year’s Daytona 500 winner William Byron, and Denny Hamlin, who will try to win his fourth Daytona 500 today.

Daytona 500 date and time: When is the 2025 Daytona 500?

The 2025 Daytona 500 is today, Feb. 16, at 1:30 p.m. ET.

What channel is the Daytona 500 on?

The 2025 Daytona 500 is airing on FOX. If you have cable or a TV antenna, all you have to do is change the channel around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.

How to watch the Daytona 500 for free:

If you don’t have cable, the best way to stream the Daytona 500 for free is to use a live TV streaming service with a free trial.

We recommend DIRECTV Stream, which offers a five-day free trial for new subscribers. When the trial is over, you’ll pay $86.98/month and gain access to over 90 live channels including FOX.

fuboTV also offers a free trial for new users. It runs for seven days, and then you’ll be able to save $5 on your first month ($74.99, $79.99/month after).

Other ways to stream the Daytona 500:

While Sling TV doesn’t offer a free trial, you’ll save money on a whole month of streaming rather than just five days free. Sling TV’s Blue plan, which includes FOX, is currently half off for your first month.
