In the ad, the company correctly points out the “deadliest epidemic” facing Americans: obesity. Hims and Hers nailed it on the head with its description of the weight loss industry’s failure to keep Americans healthy, but despite the convincing and emotional message of the ad, it still missed the point when its solution was just more medications.
Instead of pushing a healthy lifestyle, Hims and Hers advertised a compounded semaglutide, which is basically just a substitute for Ozempic. In 2023, the FDA received numerous reports of adverse effects after people used compounded semaglutide. Of course, the Hims and Hers ad didn’t mention this, and sadly, many health care providers lead people to believe that major health issues, such as obesity, can be cured with another medication, another injectable, or another prescription.
That’s not what will give you true health.
