Giancarlo Stanton leaves Yankees spring training for testing in NY

TAMPA — As the rest of his teammates prepare for the season in Florida, Giancarlo Stanton has returned to New York for medical testing, The Post confirmed on Monday.

Stanton had been limited to just doing some light agility drills on a backfield through the early days of camp — and as recently as Friday — but he was not spotted on Sunday. NJ.com first reported Stanton’s return to New York.

Asked on Sunday what Stanton was doing, manager Aaron Boone said he was still just going through treatment.

He reiterated that there was “nothing imminent” in terms of the 35-year-old resuming baseball activities.

The Yankees have been trying to let Stanton rest and recover from the elbow issues now — even if it means him not being ready for Opening Day — instead of losing him for a longer stretch during the regular season.

They have acknowledged, though, that Stanton will have to manage the elbow issues throughout the year, as he did for much of last season.
