PORT ST. LUCIE – The Mets are dealing with their first hit to their starting rotation this year.
Frankie Montas has not been throwing in camp and is expected to remain shut down for a significant amount of time, according to an industry source.
The nature of Montas’ ailment is unclear.
Manager Carlos Mendoza is expected to address the situation during his daily press briefing on Monday.
Montas arrived to the Mets on a two-year contract worth $34 million.
The Mets’ rotation depth includes Tylor Megill and Paul Blackburn, who is returning from offseason surgery to repair a leak of spinal fluid.

Kodai Senga, Sean Manaea, Clay Holmes, David Peterson and Griffin Canning are already projected starters in a planned six-man rotation this season.
