A female prison guard has been suspended for allegedly having an “inappropriate relationship” with an inmate at a scandal-plagued UK jail.
Katerina Tatus was recently “marched to the gates” of HMP Feltham, just outside London, after an internal probe uncovered her alleged tryst with the con, The Sun reported, citing law enforcement sources.
“She has been accused of having an affair and being too close to a prisoner,” one source said.
“Katerina is a pretty girl and was popular with staff and inmates,” the source added. “If she has done what she is accused of, though, she has ruined her career.”
The exact allegations leveled against the guard, who has worked in the prison system for three years, weren’t immediately known.
No details about the inmate have been released either.
The allegations surfaced after another jail employee became aware of the apparent fling and filed a complaint, sources said.
“Her suspension has sent shockwaves around the jail and it has happened because of an intelligence report by other staff,” a source told the outlet.
“It was the custodial manager, in charge of her unit, who finally found out about the allegations.”
‘Bosses are really worried about misconduct and corruption, especially after recent cases, so are doing their best to clamp down on it,” the source added.
It comes just months after another female British prison guard was sentenced to 15 months in jail after she was filmed having sex with an inmate in his cell.
Linda De Sousa Abreu, a 30-year-old married mom, pleaded guilty to having sex with inmate Linton Weirich multiple times at London’s Wandsworth prison — with one of the acts caught in a raunchy video that went viral last June.
