Ahead of her new Bravo reality series, which offers an inside look at her family, Denise Richards stopped by Today With Jenna & Friends to have some frank discussions about motherhood, marriage and OnlyFans.
Bush Hager and her guest host Heather McMahan questioned Richards about her recent cover story with People, in which she frankly addressed how she moved on from her divorce from actor Charlie Sheen.
“You said now you’ve gotten to a place where, now, you can laugh, how did you get there?” Bush Hager asked. “Because I know a lot of people that are divorced do not have that.”
Richards said she used her sense of humor to work through the divorce. “It was so bad that, if I didn’t, it would be the other way. So it’s very up and down,” she said. “There’s still times it’s not super wonderful, but that’s OK, it’s part of it.”
When Bush Hager asked if she likes to “keep it light,” Richards responded, “I like to. It’s more peaceful and it’s healthier for everyone… I think it helps the whole family.”
McMahan then questioned Richards’ reaction to her 20-year-old daughter’s decision to create an OnlyFans account, which eventually led the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star to create her own.
“I didn’t know what it was when she joined and, you know, I felt bad for her when she got a lot of backlash for being on there, and being perceived a certain way, and a lot of judgment, which I can understand. I’ve been judged, we all have,” she said.
Bush Hager then asked Richards if she felt the need to “protect” her daughter from the backlash.
“I was just like ,you know what, I’m going to just join it, I know it sounds creepy. I don’t go on her page, it’s not like that at all. I just more or less wanted to. It’s just something I thought I would do too, because I felt like she got a lot of backlash,” she responded.
Richards and her family will star in a new Bravo reality series Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, following the Hollywood icon as she navigates motherhood and marriage.
Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
