“Days of Our Lives” alum Francisco San Martin has died. He was 39.
The actor, who played Dario Hernandez and Javier Rodriguez on the long-running NBC soap opera, was found dead in his home Thursday, according to Deadline.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office confirmed to the outlet Monday that the cause of death was suicide by hanging.
One of San Martin’s former co-stars has since issued a statement mourning the loss.
“Pepe, what can I say but I love you and rest in peace, my friend,” Camila Banus wrote via Instagram, according to Forbes. “Love you mucho mucho mucho.”
The 34-year-old actress, who played San Martin’s character’s sister Gabi Hernandez, concluded, “I wish I had told you more.”
San Martin appeared in 59 episodes of the show between 2010 and 2011, according to IMDb.
He later played a groundskeeper named Mateo in “The Bold and the Beautiful” for 16 episodes in 2017.
That same year, San Martin acted as estate manager Fabian Regalo del Cielo in seven episodes of “Jane the Virgin.”
He also had a role in the 2013 film “Behind the Candelabra,” which starred Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.
San Martin was born in Mallorca, Spain, grew up in Montana and moved to Madrid as a teen to pursue an acting career.
