Isn’t this sweet.
Costco shoppers are drooling over mantecada muffins, which are being seen in the supermarket for the “first time.”
On Reddit, a customer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, posted a snap of the buttery, golden muffins in plastic containers, writing, “Mantecada muffins: first time seeing them. Any good?”
Foodies were quick to comment that the bakery item was, indeed, “tasty.”
“Buy buy buy,” implored one person.
“Just bought them yesterday, they’re delicious!” another user wrote.

“Snatched them up because I was curious. They are tasty,” someone else chimed in.
One Redditor recommended eating the muffins with coffee, while some compared the taste to that of pound cake or corn muffins.
“They’re similar to Angel Food Cake in flavor, but muffin texture and density,” explained one user. “I like to put one in a bowl and pour milk over it.”
“Childhood memories unlocked,” commented another.
“Butter-filled muffins,” someone else described, to which one person responded, “Well now I’m sold.”
According to Parade, Costco’s spongey, sweet mantecada muffins — which are also known as “sweet Mexican muffins” — are available at select locations in 8-packs for $6.99.
Avid Costco customers recently criticized the chain retailer for changing the size and cost of their muffins and barring shoppers from mixing and matching flavor packs at a lower cost.

Previously, consumers were able to buy two 6-packs of muffins in different flavors for just $9.99 — now, customers are forced to pay $6.99 for just one 8-pack of the baked goods, which were also reduced in size.
“So, smaller, more expensive muffins…” one Redditor snarked at the time.
“At that price point I’ll just bake my own,” another quipped.
“The new ones are smaller. Maybe around 70% of the size of the old one,” someone else claimed.
Meanwhile, shoppers raved about a new addition to the bakery: tiramisu cheesecake.
The 4.5 pound dessert — made with a graham cracker and cocoa crust, cold brew cheesecake and whipped mascarpone — has been hailed as “heavenly,” “amazing” and, simply put, “the best.”
