Chevy Chase, Bill Murray take photo over ‘SNL 50’ weekend post-feud

Chevy Chase and Bill Murray squashed the beef.

The “Saturday Night Live” alums appeared to move past their infamous feud at Chris Rock’s 60th birthday party in New York City on Saturday, the night before they both attended the “SNL” 50th anniversary special.

Chase, 81, shared photos with many of the star-studded guests at the party, including Murray, 74. Chase wrapped his arm around Murray’s shoulder as the both smiled for the camera.

The original “SNL” cast member also took photos with fellow alums Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Jon Lovitz, Martin Short and David Spade, as well as other celebs including Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Dave Chappelle, Steven Spielberg, Natasha Lyonne, Josh Gad, and more.

“Jay and I went The Crane Club downtown to join the celebrations for @chrisrock’s 60th Birthday, hosted by @guyoseary,” Chase wrote, referring to his wife, Jayni Chase. “So much talent! Such funny and nice guys!”

The party made him miss his “dear friend,” comedian Richard Pryor, who died in 2005 of a heart attack at age 65. “He should’ve been there,” Chase wrote.

The night after Rock’s party, NBC hosted “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” at Rockefeller Center, which reunited dozens of the show’s current and former stars.

Chase, despite having at times a tumultuous relationship with the variety show over the years, went to the event with his wife. He was a cast member on the show from 1975 to 1976.

Murray, who was on “SNL” from 1977 to 1980, also attended the anniversary special and mentioned Chase in a star-studded “Weekend Update” sketch where he ranked the best “Update” hosts.

“Next up, Cornelius Crane Chase, who we’ve all come to know as Conny,” said Murray. “Let’s face it. ‘Weekend Update’ would simply not exist without him, so it would be wrong to have him listed anywhere but … No. 4.”

The comedians previously feuded while filming an episode of “SNL” in 1978, when Murray reportedly made a rude comment about Chase’s alleged tumultuous marriage at the time.

Chase then poked fun of Murray’s physical appearance and the two got into an argument in John Belushi’s dressing room.

“Billy Murray and I came to fisticuffs, but we never really ended up hitting each other,” Chase told Esquire in 2010. “We tried, but Belushi got in the middle and we both ended up hitting John. And if anybody deserved to be slapped in the forehead it was John, for instigating it all.”

Years later in 2018, Chase confirmed that he was on the outs with the new version of “SNL.”

“I had to watch a little of it, and I just couldn’t f–king believe it,” he said in an interview with The Washington Post. “That means a whole generation of s–theads laughs at the worst f–king humor in the world. You know what I mean? How could you dare give that generation worse s–t than they already have in their lives? It just drives me nuts.”

Last year, the “Caddyshack” actor also slammed Jason Reitman’s “Saturday Night” movie which details the 90 minutes leading up to the first-ever broadcast of “SNL.”

“So Chevy comes in to watch the movie, and he is there with [his wife] Jayni, and they watch the film, and he’s in the group, and he comes up to me after, and he pats me on the shoulder and goes, ‘Well, you should be embarrassed,’” Reitman, 47, shared on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast.

The director added, “I’m trying to balance it because, in my head, I know, ‘Alright, I’m getting a Chevy Chase moment that’s 1,000 percent only for me right now.’”
