Awards season rolls on, as the 2025 Critics Choice Awards will be awarded tonight.
Original scheduled for Jan. 12, the awards were first postponed to January 26 after wildfires broke out in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena areas of Calif., and as fires raged on, the awards were pushed back again.
The Critics Choice Awards are given out yearly by the eponymous critics association to the best of the best in both film and television. To be eligible for this year’s ceremony, titles had to be released between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
“Conclave” and “Wicked” lead the film nominees with 11 each, while “Emilia Perez,” the former Oscar frontrunner mired in controversy, has 10 nominations and could likely take home a few wins tonight as voting closed before star Karla Sofía Gascón came under fire for rediscovered racist, antisemitic, and Islamaphobic posts on X. Gascón will not attend tonight’s ceremony as reports emerged that Netflix has nixed her from the film’s campaign entirely.
In the TV categories, Emmys and Golden Globes darling “Shōgun” is well represented with six nods.
Here’s everything you need to know to tune in to tonight’s Critics Choice Awards.
