Charissa Thompson shares feelings about Fox as contract ends

Charissa Thompson sent a love letter to Fox Sports as the veteran host revealed her contract expired after the 2024 NFL season.

During a recent installment of the “Calm Down” podcast, Thompson gushed over her longtime employer while explaining that Fox gave her family the VIP treatment at the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Feb. 9.

“I just have to say one thing — and this is also what I am going on and on about Fox, and I swear, I mean it’s not just because my contract’s up — I love Fox so much because my brother and my dad came to the Super Bowl, and Fox is family to me, so my own family like sharing in those moments,” Thompson told her co-host and fellow Fox Sports sideline reporter Erin Andrews.

“It was so fun, and Fox just makes them feel so welcome and makes sure they’re included in the events and everything. So I just would be remiss if I didn’t mention how wonderful my extended work family is to my own family.”

The pair often discuss on their “Calm Down” podcast how close they are with their Fox co-workers and how it is a family environment.

Andrews previously shared that her contract is also up this offseason.

Thompson, 42, hosts the “Fox NFL Kickoff” show, in addition to a number of NFL Films spots for Fox.

She also hosts Amazon Prime Video’s “Thursday Night Football” pregame show.

In 2023, Thompson faced criticism for saying she “made up a report” while working as a sideline reporter early in her career.

She later addressed her comments, which she made during an appearance on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast, in a note posted to her Instagram.

“In the absence of a coach providing any information that could further my report I would use information that I learned and saw during the first half to create my report,” Thompson wrote in part before providing an example.

“If a team was 0 for 7 on 3rd down, that would clearly be an area they need to improve in the second half. In these instances I never attributed anything I said to a player or coach,” she wrote.

A spokesperson for Amazon’s NFL on Prime Video, as well as Fox Sports, declined to comment on the subject, according to The Athletic.
