Five-year-old Carolina Trump shared the spotlight with her proud grandad, President Trump, at the 67th annual NASCAR Daytona 500 Sunday, waving at cheering supporters from the presidential limo.
Carolina wore an adorable white dress with a rainbow on it and clutched a “Make America Great Again” cap while beaming at the crowd through the window of the vehicle, known as the “Beast,” before turning to chat with her grandpa, a heartwarming clip posted on the White House X account shows.
The sweet behind-the-scenes video was filmed by her dad, Eric Trump.
The president, joined by son Eric and grandkids Luke and Carolina, sat in the heavily-armored Beast as it made two ceremonial laps around the 2.5-mile circuit at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
The commander in chief then gave NASCAR drivers a heartfelt shout-out from the radio, calling them “great Americans” and wishing them well before the race began.
“This is your favorite president. I’m a big fan. I am a really big fan of you people. How you do this I don’t know, but I just want you to be safe,” Trump said.
“You’re talented people and you’re great people and great Americans. Have a good day, have a lot of fun and I’ll see you later,” he told the drivers before they sped off on the 500-mile race.
The 47th president also walked with a smiling Carolina in hand to greet NASCAR drivers on the speedway.
Trump also stopped to speak on the Fox Sports broadcast.
“I think it’s fantastic,” Trump said of the Daytona 500.
“It’s great for the country. Our country is doing well again and we have spirit all over the world. There’s spirit again, we brought it back. And it’s been less than four weeks. So, you’ll see what we do in a little period of time, it’s gonna only get better. But this is very exciting.”
Trump also attended the race while campaigning in 2020, where he was given the honor of being grand marshal of NASCAR’s biggest and most prestigious event of the year and delivered the command for drivers to start their engines.
Sunday’s race got underway in front of a sold-out crowd but was halted about an hour later after eight laps because of heavy rain that was expected to cause a lengthy delay.
Many sports fans were seen in the stands wearing red “MAGA” caps. Trump, who watched the race from a suite, also wore a MAGA cap.
Trump left the race during the rain delay but slightly ahead of when he was scheduled to depart.
Last Sunday, Trump made history as the first sitting President to attend a Super Bowl when he headed to New Orleans to watch the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
