Sam Asghari is “Overprotected.”
Britney Spears’ ex-husband confirmed in a new interview that he signed a nondisclosure agreement during his seven-year relationship with the pop superstar.
“You can’t take a poop in Hollywood without having an NDA. … That’s the true part of it,” the “Traitors” contestant joked on the “Viall Files” podcast Wednesday.
Asghari’s comment came after host Nick Viall asked about the cause of his divorce from Spears, which the actor was forced to talk around as a result of what he called a “gag order.”
“When it comes to breakups, splits, divorce, it sucks,” he began.
“I always hated the fact that somebody goes and talks about this and cries and tries to get attention or use that as leverage. It’s my life. I lived it. I experienced it. But I think certain things you talk about in public and certain things you don’t. And I think it doesn’t matter what the cause was.
“I think what matters the most is the time that we spent together, the things that we’ve learned. And that was a big part of my life and her life as well.”
Asghari, 30, shared that he is “always gonna have respect” for Spears, 43, and “would like to, at some point,” be in touch with her again.
“I wish her the best,” he added.
Page Six exclusively reported in June 2024 that the former personal trainer signed an NDA “years ago that bars him from going into detail about his marriage to the Princess of Pop.”
While some outlets claimed at the time that Asghari was “not allowed to say anything negative or positive” about Spears, a source clarified to us that there was “not a complete ban.”
The former couple met in October 2016 on the set of the Grammy winner’s “Slumber Party” music video, in which the model played her love interest.
They started dating soon after and got engaged in September 2021 ahead of the termination of Spears’ 13-year conservatorship, which controlled her personal, financial and medical affairs.
The pair tied the knot in June 2022, but Asghari filed for divorce just one year later.
Following their breakup, rumors swirled that Spears had cheated with a member of her household staff, which she and her third husband never publicly addressed.
The “Toxic” singer has, however, been dating her former housekeeper Paul Soliz on and off since the divorce — despite friends voicing concern over his criminal record.
A source recently told Page Six that Spears and Soliz’s relationship is getting serious, as she has been spending time with some of his nine children.
The “Crossroads” star two sons of her own, Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
