As prog bullies demand Adams’ scalp, ‘moderate’ Dems run for cover

We’re looking in vain for any sign at all of New York Democrats’ supposed newfound moderation as the establishment rushes to defenestrate Mayor Eric Adams.

He’s the democratically elected, Democratic mayor whose only evident sin is wanting to . . . work lawfully with the feds to expel violent illegal-migrant criminals.

That course has 80-20 support with the general public, but infuriates the progressive elite.

And so a pack of political leaders descended Tuesday on Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office to tell her to neuter him — remove him from office, or impose some other dirty deal that would, say, force him to drop his re-election run.

With not a “moderate” voice raised in protest.

Hochul is at least playing along with the lynch mob, droning that four aides quitting somehow “raises serious questions about the long-term future of this mayoral administration.”

No: Staffers get replaced all the time; they serve at the will of the person who got elected to the job.

But this governor routinely caves to the far left; if we’re seeing any hostage crisis here, it’s not Adams held captive by Team Trump, but Hochul cowering before the progressives.

Conspicuously silent is ex- Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who’s too busy ginning up “spontaneous” calls for him save the city by entering the mayoral race.

No matter that a victory like neutering Adams can only embolden the lefties that Cuomo claims he (and he alone) will stand up to. If that’s so, Andrew, why aren’t you standing up now?

Rep. Ritchie Torres, meanwhile, actually tweeted about a supposed “hostile takeover of New York’s immigration and law enforcement policy” that Hochul ought to stop by removing Adams.

It took ex-Gov. David Paterson, 15 years out of office, to state the obvious: “I don’t hear anything of a cause for him to leave office”; the noise is all “We’re mad at you for helping Trump.”

Queens City Councilman Robert Holden, 73 and term limited, similarly slammed the “witch hunt.”

Yet other “moderate” leaders likes Rep. Tom Suozzi are AWOL.

So: The progs hit the warpath screaming “Resist Trump!” — and supposed anti-progs with any real skin in the game run for cover.

Not that actual righties are covered in glory: The interim crew at the Trump Justice Department bungled the dismissal of the case against Adams, letting it gain an air of scandal and so inspire the #Resistance flareup.

Assuming Hochul winds up scalping the mayor in some way, the big losers, yet again, will be regular New Yorkers, as the hard left scores another win and continues the cycle of fear, bullying and insane policies.

Until non-prog New York Democrats grow a real backbone, the only place they’ll “lead” is into further decline.
