Anthony Santander signing with Blue Jays for $90M in MLB free agency

The Blue Jays have finally landed a big fish.

Anthony Santander, one of the top remaining MLB free agents, is signing with Toronto on a five-year contract worth more than $90 million, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed Monday. The deal includes an option.

The 30-year-old outfielder played parts of eight seasons with the Orioles and is coming off a 2024 season in which he blasted a career-high 44 home runs with 102 RBIs while hitting .235 with an .814 OPS.

Santander has 105 home runs over the last three seasons and earned his first All-Star nod last year.

The deal is a sigh of relief for the Blue Jays, who have had trouble luring top free agents north of the border.

They seriously pursued Juan Soto before he signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets, and most recently were left at the altar in the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes.

It’s unclear how Santander’s deal impacts Pete Alonso, with the Mets currently of the belief their longtime first baseman will be signing elsewhere in free agency.

Toronto was thought to be one of the top potential destinations for Alonso.
