Alyssa Griffin Irritates Joy Behar By Calling Joe Biden “Disrespectful” On ‘The View’

It’s a good thing Alyssa Farah Griffin and Joy Behar are getting a three-day weekend, because they’re going to need some time to cool off from today’s episode of The View. The final show before Donald Trump‘s Jan. 20 inauguration was a heated one, with the table clashing over how we got here and how Democrats are handling Trump’s rapidly approaching second term.

Tensions reached a head when Behar wondered if President Joe Biden could have stayed in the race and prevented Trump from winning again.

When she asked, “Do you think that if Biden had run, in fact, that he would have beaten Trump?” Sara Haines swiftly replied, “No,” but Behar disagreed.

“I do!” she exclaimed, adding, “His being there eliminates the misogyny and the racism that was part of this election.”

Sunny Hostin supported her co-host’s hot take by calling out, “Say it, Joy!” but Griffin’s words proved to be Behar’s breaking point.

“Can I say one final thing? With due respect to Joe Biden and his forty-plus years of service—” Griffin began, but she was cut off by Haines noting that the president had worked in government for over 50 years, while Ana Navarro clarified the number was actually 52.

Griffin then continued, “I think it’s disrespectful that he keeps talking about how he would have won. What he’s effectively saying is, ‘Kamala lost, but I would have won.’ I think it’s disrespectful to somebody who stepped up and ran a very good campaign in a short amount of time.”

Behar was clearly irritated when she shot back, “It’s not disrespectful to Kamala, it’s about what I just said. It would have eliminated those misogynist, sexist pigs out there and the racist people who would never vote for a Black woman! And you know it.”

Griffin defiantly replied, “There is no data to suggest Biden could have won. No! I saw that debate, he could not have won after June 27.” Before she can say more, Behar cut to commercial, but that wasn’t the only tiff between the two on today’s show. Earlier in the episode, they bickered during a conversation about Trump’s inauguration.

When Behar claimed that people “have turned their eyes away” from what Trump “is really representing,” Griffin noted that he had won the election and had the support of millions of Americans.

Behar sternly told her in response, “It is not a normal election. Stop treating it like it is. It’s not”

Griffin, though, countered, “It is a normal election.” She told Behar, “It was a safe, fair and legal election,” naming that 18 million people who voted for President Biden in 2020 sat out the election in 2024.

“It’s not just that Donald Trump won, also Democrats lost. Kamala Harris lost, Joe Biden lost, like that’s the reality,” she proclaimed.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
