Just when you thought the holidays were nearly over, Apple TV+ is delivering quite the New Year’s present.
The streamer announced that from Friday, Jan. 3 until Sunday, Jan. 5, those with an Apple ID can access its entire library of titles for free, per Variety.
Now, taking advantage of this opportunity may seem like an overwhelming task. How do I get the most out of this three-day deal? Fortunately, Decider has got you covered. Here are some of our favorite Apple TV+ titles to check out this weekend.
Apple TV+ TV Shows to Stream:
Severance
Three days gives you more than enough time to binge all nine episodes of Severance Season 1 — and just in time for you to gear up for Season 2, which premieres on Thursday, Jan. 17! The psychological thriller centers on Mark (Adam Scott), an employee at Lumon Industries who has opted to undergo the “severance procedure” in which his work and personal memories are surgically separated.
Shrinking
With Emmy-worthy performances from both Jason Segel and Harrison Ford in its sophomore season, it’s no wonder why Shrinking landed a spot on Decider’s 24 Best TV Shows of 2024. Created by Bill Lawrence, Segel, and Brett Goldstein, the series follows Jimmy (Segel), a therapist who is grieving the loss of his wife, who takes an unconventional approach to his work by giving his patients the cold, hard truth. Lucky for us, Season 3 has already been confirmed!
Also ranked on Decider’s 24 Best TV Shows of 2024, this Gary Oldman-led spy thriller created by Will Smith — and no, not that Will Smith — has fortunately been renewed for a fifth season. The series is about tea of MI5 agents led by Jackson Lamb (Oldman). Take it from Decider contributor Joel Keller, who in his Slow Horses Season 4 review, praised the series for “continu[ing] to be entertaining because of the show’s quirky characters, not the least of which is Oldman’s character Jackson Lamb.”
Ted Lasso
Also created by Bill Lawrence, this three-season comedy stars Jason Sudeikis as the titular Ted Lasso, an American football coach who travels across the pond to try out coaching the other kind of football (what we Americans call “soccer”). Sudeikis delivers a heartwarming performance as the lovable, pun-filled Lasso, alongside stunning work from Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, and more. Speaking from experience, you can indeed binge this series — and should.
Apple TV+ Movies to Stream:
Blitz
Saoirse Ronan shines in this war drama from director Steve McQueen. Deemed to be “one of 2024’s best films” by Decider contributor John Serba, Blitz is set in London during World War II and follows nine-year-old George (Elliott Heffernan), whose mother Rita (Ronan) has him go to the countryside in search of safety. The film showcases their journey towards a reunion.
CODA
This Best Picture winner also earned Deaf actor Troy Kotsur Best Supporting Actor at the 2022 Oscars. CODA, which stands for “child of deaf adults,” follows Ruby (Emilia Jones), the only hearing member of her family. Throughout the movie, she is navigating her role as support for her parents and brother, while also pursuing her love of music.
Killers of the Flower Moon
Martin Scorsese’s Western thriller earned 10 Oscar nods and earned Lily Gladstone a SAG Award and Golden Globe. The nearly three and a half hour-long film is based on David Grann’s 2017 book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, and stars Gladstone, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Robert De Niro.
STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie
This Emmy-winning documentary shines a light on Back to the Future and Spin City star Michael J. Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991. The 94-minute-long doc features emotional reflections and revelations from Fox, whose work in the entertainment industry and now in Parkinson’s disease fundraising and awareness has left a lasting impact.
