Taylor Frankie Paul does not seem ready to say goodbye to The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives just yet.
Production on the Hulu show’s fifth season was put on pause last month amid the investigation into a February dispute between Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, during which both parties made allegations of domestic violence against each other. With the court deciding not to press charges against Paul last week, it was only a matter of time before Hulu would decide to pick cameras back up.
According to People, production on Season 5 is set to resume in the near future. The outlet also reported that both Paul and Mortensen will not be filming when that time comes. However, it seems like Paul was given different information. “Interesting, that’s not the call I got,” she commented under People’s Instagram post, seemingly confirming that she was asked back by the streamer. Paul also liked a video from @stephwiththedeets, in which the content creator speculated that the MomTok leader would be coming back to the show.
Moreover, TMZ reported that while Mortensen will no longer appear in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Paul will return when she is ready.
DECIDER has reached out to the show’s reps for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
Mortensen, for his part, revealed in a lengthy Instagram statement earlier this week that he would be stepping away from the spotlight to focus on being the “best father” he can be to his and Paul’s 2-year-old son, Ever. “I’ve chosen to step away from the spotlight to focus on my family, my growth, and our healing, and that’s where my energy will remain,” he wrote. “I’m closing an unhealthy chapter and moving forward with hope for better days ahead.”
This (hopefully) marks the end of an unhealthy cycle for both Paul and Mortensen, which has played out over the first four seasons of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Their most recent dispute not only landed them back in court, but also unearthed past skeletons, including a video from the night of Paul’s 2023 domestic violence arrest. The three-year-old video, taken by Mortensen, showed Paul drunkenly hurling metal barstools at him, one of which seemingly hit her young daughter in the crossfire. The leaked video ultimately resulted in ABC’s decision to cancel Paul’s season of The Bachelorette, which was slated to premiere days later.
While Paul’s Secret Lives of Mormon Wives co-stars were the ones who pushed for the filming pause, it seems like they are just as eager to get back to work. “MomTok back together hallelujah,” Jessi Draper posted on her Instagram Story on Tuesday night (April 21).
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is currently streaming on Hulu.
