
Last season was memorable because of how many firsts were accomplished, because the preseason hope was to get into the NCAA Tournament, and that St. John’s group did so much more than that.
The program’s first outright Big East regular-season title since 1985, first Big East Tournament crown since 2000 and first NCAA Tournament win in 25 years.
There was an innocence about that climb — it was that unexpected.
It also created crazy-high expectations for this year, even though Zuby Ejiofor was the lone returning starter.
