Whoopi Goldberg used an appearance by trans-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney on Monday to defend biological men invading women’s and girls’ athletics and private spaces.
Goldberg and her cohosts on ABC News’ “The View” invited Mulvaney, a biological male who skyrocketed to Insta-fame by documenting his transition into a parody of a teenage girl, to discuss his book about becoming said parody. Mulvaney added insult to injury, invading women’s spaces once again by releasing the book on International Women’s Day.
Goldberg and her cohosts raved over Mulvaney anyway during Monday’s broadcast.
Cohost Ana Navarro mentioned one anecdote regarding a biological woman who identified as transgender and competed against males, suggesting that somehow made the hundreds of trans-identifying males taking medals, awards, scholarships, and roster spots from women acceptable.
“Well, I think part of the problem that the trans community is facing, and it’s the same problem that women face, is if you don’t know anything about our bodies, you don’t know how it works,” Goldberg claimed, immediately affirming trans-identifying men as no different from women.
“So when you come in and say, ‘These men — these are men, you know, competing against women,’ you’re assuming that the women are weak and just can’t do anything except be here,” she continued in mocking tones. “Have you seen female athletes? They know what they’re doing.”
“So I’m not sure what’s going on or why this is an issue. The same for me is when people say oh, you know, ‘I don’t know how I feel about you.’ You do. God doesn’t make mistakes,” Goldberg asserted, despite the fact that the idea that people can be born the “wrong” gender is predicated on the possibility of God making mistakes.
“The challenge is not to the trans people, it’s to the people who are not trans. That’s what God is looking at to see how you treat people,” she insisted. “That’s what — that’s what is happening.”
