A Wisconsin teenager accused of butchering his mother claims the murderous rage was inspired by a Netflix documentary he watched about the Menendez brothers — and his chilling last words to his dying mother have been revealed, according to a report.
Reed Gelinskey, 15, will be tried as an adult for the alleged March 4 murder of his mother Suzanne Gelinskey at their Caledonia, Wisc., home, according to a criminal complaint.
The 15-year-old allegedly sent a photo of his dead mother lying on her back to a girl via SnapChat, prompting her to call the Caledonia Police Department, the complaint read.
When officers arrived at the suburban home, Gelinskey was sitting on the front stoop of the house in bloody clothing, still holding onto a knife.
“She is dead,” he told officers, according to the complaint. “She is dead from what I did.”
Just before the alleged murder, Gelinskey told officers that he was watching a Menendez brothers documentary on Netflix — which went into the grizzly details of the 1989 double murder in which Lyle and Eric Menendez gunned down their parents in their California living room.
Gelinskey told cops he came up with the plan to butcher his own mother while watching the “shotgun scene,” in the documentary, the complaint stated.
After the teen’s mother went to bed, her son hid his sleeping medication, grabbed a steak knife, and hid a weighted barbell up the sleeve of his shirt, he told officers, according to the complaint.
He then beckoned his mother downstairs to search for his meds — when she turned her back, Gelinskey allegedly smashed her over the head with the dumbbell, he told cops.
The teen then shoved his mom to the floor and jumped on top of her with the knife in hand, the complaint stated.
Gelinskey allegedly stabbed his mother a total of five times — three in the chest and twice in the neck, according to the complaint.
With her last breath, the woman asked her son, “Why?,” to which the boy replied simply, “pain,” he told officers, the complaint claims.
Suzanne Gelinskey was found unresponsive in the foyer, laying in blood-soaked clothing with multiple stab wounds, the complaint stated.
The teen suspect was taken into custody at the scene and revealed his deranged thought process to officers during an interview.
Gelinskey also told cops that he had the urge to kill his parents when he came home from school on the day of the brutal incident. He said he planned on killing his father when he came home from work, but that he couldn’t find a hammer big enough, the complaint claimed.
The teen claimed he was depressed and was taking his brother’s anti-anxiety medication — telling police he took about 9 pills on March 4, the complaint stated.
The boy is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and faces life imprisonment if convicted.
The Menendez Brothers have recently experienced a major boost in public support following revelations stemming from documentary films and advocacy from high-profile celebrities and politicians.

The advocacy went viral last year, with several documentaries portraying the murderous brothers as justified in their slaying, claiming Lyle and Erik were avenging years of sexual abuse at the hands of their father Jose.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office rejected a legal bid to have the brothers freed — but many are still holding out hope they will see unrestricted light of day. That includes California Governor Gavin Newsom, who ordered the state’s parole board to investigate whether Erik and Lyle pose “unreasonable” public safety risks..
