Star scientist Bill Nye and others in the field are set to hold a rally at the Lincoln Memorial on Friday afternoon.
Former National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) are expected to join the scientists for the “Stand Up for Science” event on the National Mall.
The protest is centered around President Trump’s attempts to cut government spending, particularly drastic cuts in government spending on research institutions.
Friday’s event, according to The Washington Post, is something of a revival of the 2017 “March for Science” during Trump’s first term.
The rally is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. EST.
