A farmer in Udon Thani, Thailand, who goes by Ja, captured the incredible moment a small wind vortex sent loose hay spiraling into the sky. Ja had just finished piling the dried grass when the harmless “mini tornado” sent the straws spinning in all directions. He told Viral Press: “It felt so good to feel like a child again… I felt the power of nature.”
Smaller whirlwinds can form when the sun warms a patch of land, causing the air above it to heat up and rise quickly.
