A resurfaced clip of Bill Cosby openly flirting with Sofia Vergara on Late Show With David Letterman in 2003 is making the rounds again in light of Cosby’s aggravated assault conviction.
In the clip, Cosby makes several comments about Vergara’s appearance, even going so far as to tell her, “Men look at you and they think only of sin.” The interview marked then 30-year-old Vergara’s first-ever appearance on American television to promote her film, Chasing Papi, six years before she became a household name with her Emmy-winning role on Modern Family.
The resurfaced clip shows Vergara smiling along as Cosby again comments on her appearance and outfit. “Now what you have on tonight is wonderful. This is wonderful,” he says. “And when you walked out many people became attentive.”
He later leans in and tells the rising television star, “You make me feel young again. You make me feel very excited.”
Vergara kindly smiles as he speaks, before telling the comedian, “But don’t die, please.” The two shared a laugh over her remark.
At another point in the interview, Cosby begins rolling his R’s to Vergara, who playfully comments, “This is too sexy, I’m leaving.”
The resurfaced interview takes on a different light as The Cosby Family star served three out of the three to 10 year sentence he was handed in 2015 for drugging and assaulting Andrea Costand in 2004. His sexual assault conviction was overturned in Pennsylvania and he was released from prison early in 2021.
Over 50 women have come forward accusing the comedy legend of drugging and assaulting them.
In 2024, it was reported that the 87-year-old comedian is working on a memoir to “set the record straight.”
Most recently, a Las Vegas judge allowed 10 women to move forward with a sexual assault lawsuit against Cosby after the statute of limitations for civil claims by survivors of sexual violence was lifted.
