Tatum O’Neal is not looking back in anger.
The actress, 61, said she’s finally ready to bury the hatchet with her ex-husband, John McEnroe, from whom she split in 1992 and divorced in 1994 after eight years of marriage.
O’Neal, who was propelled to stardom after winning an Oscar for her role in the hit 1973 film “Paper Moon” opposite her dad, Ryan O’Neal, shares three children with the tennis legend, 66.
The exes are proud parents to sons Kevin, 38, and Sean, 37, and daughter Emily, 33.
After the pair parted ways, the 7-time Grand Slam winner was granted full custody of the kids as a result of O’Neal’s drug issues.
In 1997, McEnroe married his second wife, Patty Smyth. The pair went on to welcome two daughters.
As O’Neal focused on her sobriety, her relationship with McEnroe became extremely rocky throughout their years-long messy court battles.
Now, however, she says that she’s finally ready to leave all of that in the past and come face-to-face with her ex as their son, Kevin, is set to marry his his fiancée, Fern Cozine, in June.
“The anger is gone,” O’Neal told Variety, revealing that she and the tennis ace will be in the same room for the first time in “many years, decades even” on their son’s special day.
Kevin, for his part, said his famous mom will be making a speech at the wedding.
“I think since this happened, everybody has rallied and has wished you the best,” he told his mother, referring to her previous hardships.
“All the good stuff,” she responded. “All the good stuff.”
In 2020, the actress suffered a stroke following a drug overdose after she was prescribed morphine by a doctor who was unaware of her history of drug use.
In the thick of it, O’Neal admitted that she questioned whether she wanted to stay alive, but ultimately the thought of her three children pulled her through.
“I love them so much, but I’d already given so much,” she told the outlet. “Part of me just didn’t want to make it, you know?”
She was then put in a coma for six weeks — an experience that left Kevin extremely worried about her chances of making it.
“There’s something in her that you can’t explain — that perseveres through even horrible situations she put herself in,” he said.
“Now I don’t want to hurt myself,” she said of life these days. “Now I don’t want to f–king take drugs again — I really don’t.”
Elsewhere in the interview, O’Neal shared her candid reaction to learning that her famous father had cut her out of his will.
