Boobs in space?

Trump admires ‘beautiful’ French woman.
Journalists outraged at pro-freedom memo.
The Biden cover-up, uncovered.
Happy trails, Joy Reid.
Hooters needs a bailout.

It’s Friday, Feb. 28, 2025

Donald Trump met with Emmanuel Macron at the White House this week, and told the French president to say hello to his “beautiful wife” Brigitte. The Washington Free Beacon is committed to holding our president accountable regardless of party, so we decided to fact check Trump’s claim in the interest of halting the spread of potentially dangerous misinformation.

Some context: The happy French couple met in the typical French way: At an after-school drama club at the Jesuit high school where Brigitte taught literature. He was 15 years old and so was one of her daughters; she was pushing 40 and married to her first husband. Brigitte was “charmed” by the teenager’s “intelligence” and “literary talent.” The relationship progressed to a degree that worried Macron’s parents, who sent him to another high school, but nothing could keep them apart. “A love often clandestine, often hidden, misunderstood by many before imposing itself,” he wrote in his memoir.

Analysis: Gross.

Further context: Trump, who has reportedly boasted about possessing intimate knowledge of the French president and his “naughty” secrets, seems to really enjoy kissing Macron’s wife. The significance of this detail is not entirely clear, but we’ll continue to monitor the situation just as we covered the curious relationship that appeared to blossom between first lady Jill Biden and second gentleman Doug Emhoff during the previous administration.

Verdict: After reviewing the available evidence, we rate this claim 4 Flaming Clintons.

In other political news… Lauren Sanchez, the girlfriend of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos who was widely praised for her eye-popping display of fashion sense and body positivity at last month’s inauguration ceremony, is going to space. Sanchez will be part of a historic all-female crew aboard an upcoming Blue Origin space flight. She will be joined by pop star Katy Perry, CBS News host (and Democratic donor) Gayle King, and several others.

The historic journey will be documented by Amazon Studios.

Speaking of Jeff Bezos and the twins… Among the billionaire’s many charitable endeavors is his ownership of the Washington Post. He sent a memo to staff this week expressing his support for the twin pillars of “personal liberties” and “free markets.” The paper’s opinion section, he wrote, would no longer publish op-eds that denounce freedom. Naturally, the journalists were outraged. Opinion editor David Shipley resigned, and many others vented their disgust on Bluesky, the social media app for annoying liberals.

“[W]hat the actual fuck,” wrote Philip Bump, a Post opinion columnist who specializes in explaining why Republicans are bad. Amanda Katz, a former opinion editor at the Post who resigned last year after Bezos barred the editorial board from publishing a pointless endorsement of Kamala Harris, ranted hysterically that the owner’s endorsement of personal and economic freedom was an “absolute abandonment of the principles of accountability of the powerful, justice, democracy, human rights, and accurate information.”

Jennifer Rubin, the obnoxious anti-Trump columnist who resigned from the Post last month to start a “pro-democracy” blog, got out just in time.

In related news… Americans’ trust in the media is at an all-time low, according to a new Gallup survey.

This is why: CNN host Jake Tapper is planning to publish a book in May about the “cover up” of President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. The book, Original Sin, promises an “unflinching and explosive reckoning” with Biden’s disastrous decision to seek reelection, and new details about the “desperate efforts to hide the extent of [his] deterioration,” which was obvious to everyone except for mainstream journalists and other professional Democrats. They were busy doing other things, like accusing the people who noticed Biden’s decline of promoting “right-wing propaganda.” As recently as March 2024, Tapper was denouncing critics of Biden’s senility for “mocking” his “stutter.”

Timing is everything: It’s now safe to report on this coverup, in which many in the media are implicated, because Trump is president and any damning revelations Tapper uncovers won’t be politically damaging to any Democrats running for office. Liberal journalists have a habit of exposing scandals involving prominent Democrats just after a major election in which the Democrat lost. It’s not unreasonable to suggest that Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016 was the single greatest factor that led to the downfall of Democratic sex pests Harvey Weinstein (arrested 2018) and Jeffrey Epstein (arrested 2019). Journalists were not the heroes in either case; in many ways they were the villains.

Deny till he dies: Biden adviser Mike Donilon argued it was “insane” for Democrats to push Biden out of the race after he bragged about beating Medicare on the debate stage. “Lots of people have terrible debates,” he said. “Usually, the party doesn’t lose its mind, but that’s what happened here. It melted down.”

Flashback: We Need To Talk About Grandpa

Unemployed journalist of the week: MSNBC finally fired Joy Reid, who was only slightly more obnoxious than the network’s other hosts but had by far the worst ratings. She will always be remembered for her deranged assessment on election night, when she praised Kamala Harris and her “flawlessly run” campaign for securing the coveted endorsement of Queen Latifah.

Demoted journalist of the week: Lester Holt wasn’t fired, but he lost his hosting gig at NBC News, which means he might have to take a haircut on his estimated $10 million annual salary. Holt will always be remembered for ending Kamala Harris’s career in national politics by asking if she had plans to visit the border.

Employed journalist of the week: Fashion icon and “Kamala Harris expert” Eugene Daniels is leaving Politico to cohost a weekend show on MSNBC. It’s not yet known whether the liberal network will provide a substantial wardrobe budget to accommodate his bold taste and love of Beyoncé.

Ill-advised tattoo of the week: Liberal influencer Chris Mowrey goes hard in the paint.
