Watch live: House trade panel holds hearing on enforcement priorities

The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade is convening a hearing Tuesday morning on trade enforcement and priorities as the Trump administration weighs additional tariffs on goods from trading partners overseas.

From executive actions seeking to protect against “overseas extortion” to reciprocal tariff warnings to the threats of additional taxes on goods from the U.S.’s closest neighbors Canada and Mexico, President Trump has been fervent in his “America First” priorities. The president has also floated tariffs on imported aluminum and steel, cars, semiconductors and pharmaceuticals and lumber.

Questions are also swirling about the status of a trade rule that Trump canceled and then reinstated earlier this month, specifically around the U.S.’s trade relationship with China.

Trump’s pick for trade representative Jamieson Greer and his nominee to lead the Federal Trade Commission Andrew Ferguson are still awaiting Senate confirmation.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.
