Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and his fiancée, Anna Congdon, were quickly embraced by the city of Philadelphia after the team landed him in 2024.
Barkley signed a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Eagles in free agency after six years with the Giants — and he went on to have his best NFL season and punched a ticket to the Super Bowl for the first time.
The former first-round pick received an All-Pro selection and a Pro Bowl nod in 2024.
Here’s what to know about Congdon, who has supported Barkley throughout his NFL career thus far.
Congdon is a Penn State alum
Congdon was enrolled at Happy Valley, where she met Barkley, who played for the Nittany Lions.
It’s unclear what she majored in and what degree she received.
Congdon has a large social media following with 133,000 followers on Instagram.
College sweethearts
Congdon and Barkley have been dating since 2017.
The couple attended a Pi Kappa Phi fraternity formal together in December 2016, as seen in a photo posted to her Instagram at the time.
“He’s alright on the field but you should see him on the dance floor,” she wrote.
Barkley previously explained that Congdon played a role in encouraging him to complete his college degree after he left Penn State early to enter the 2018 NFL Draft.
“Everyone pushed me,” Barkley said. “My parents [Alibay Barkley and Tonya Johnson] pushed me to accomplish it, Anna pushed me to accomplish it, coach [James] Franklin, obviously, and coach [Charles] Huff, my running back coach at the time, and I was happy to get it done.”
Barkley received his degree in communications in May 2022.
Taking the next step
Congdon and Barkley got engaged in 2024.
The NFL star revealed their engagement in February 2025, ahead of Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans, sharing he popped the questions six months prior.
During a press conference at Super Bowl opening night, Barkley, 28, was asked what was more nerve-wracking: proposing or playing in his first championship contest.
“That’s the second time I had that question. I probably shouldn’t have said proposing,” he quipped.
“I’m just not good with stuff like that. I’m a lover boy, but I’m not like a clever lover boy. I’m simple and basic,” he said, adding that football is “something I’ve been doing for a really long time.”
Motherhood
Congdon and Barkley have two children, daughter Jada Clare, 6, and son Saquon Barkley Jr., 2.
Jada was born two days before Barkley was selected with the second overall pick by the Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The couple welcomed Saquon Jr. in 2022.
A solid support system
Congdon has been a staple on the sidelines at Eagles games in the 2024-25 season.
She brought the couple’s two children to celebrate with Barkley after Philadelphia bulldozed the Commanders to take the NFC conference title with a 55-23 win.
“If I could wrap my arms around this memory, I would,” Congdon gushed in a post on Instagram, which included a photo of their family at Lincoln Financial Field.
Barkley replied, “Love you.”
Private life
Congdon and Barkley have kept their relationship and family life fairly private.
The blonde beauty seemingly started to be more public when Barkley joined the Eagles.
