St. John’s proving remarkable season is no fluke

Tuesday night marked three months to the day that St. John’s season tipped off against Fordham at Carnesecca Arena. The Red Storm have played 23 games, and nearly 75 percent of the regular season is complete.

The Johnnies are five points away from a perfect year. They are remarkably closer to being undefeated than finding themselves on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

The point: Stop waiting for the other shoe to drop. Stop thinking this is some kind of fluke. The body of work is too extensive.

St. John’s is ranked No. 12 in the country — its loftiest perch since the final poll of the 1999-2000 season — for several reasons. It is a legitimately good team.
