The Knicks can cross one potential name off their trade deadline list.
The Kings are acquiring center Jonas Valanciunas from the Wizards in exchange for small forward Sidy Cissoko and two second-round picks, ESPN reported Wednesday.
Valanciunas, 32, was likely to be one of the big men on the market this deadline after he inked a three-year, $30.295 million contract with Washington last offseason.
The 2011 first-round pick has played a career-low 20.1 minutes this season, but he’s still averaged 11.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game on an eight-win Wizards team.
Earlier this week, The Post’s Stefan Bondy listed Valanciunas as a potential option for the Knicks as they look to add center depth to their roster.
The Knicks, before they traded for Karl-Anthony Towns in a blockbuster with the Timberwolves in October, had interest in Valanciunas.
“I don’t know how serious that was. My agent was handling,” Valanciunas told The Post at the end of December. “I heard something from that side. But there’s a lot of X’s and O’s. Salary cap issues, this and that. Strategic stuff. Every team does what they think is the best for them.”
The Knicks have been without starting center Mitchell Robinson for the entire 2024-25 season after he underwent ankle surgery in May.
Head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters Sunday that Robinson was getting “pretty close” to resuming full contact and joining the team at practice.
Outside of Towns, the Knicks have relied on Precious Achiuwa and Jericho Sims for center depth, though the latter is being shopped before Thursday’s deadline.
It’s been an active trade season for the Kings, who also shipped De’Aaron Fox to San Antonio in a three-team trade in which they landed Zach LaVine and Cissoko.
