Beyoncé’s oldest daughter took control when her stunned mom sat in silence after winning Best Country Album at the 67th annual Grammy Awards at at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2.
While the singer, 43, didn’t walk the red carpet ahead of the star-studded event, she popped up in the audience ahead of the win for her 2024 record “Cowboy Carter.”
Taylor Swift honored Beyoncé with the coveted award, making her the first Black woman to ever win in the category.
She beat out Post Malone’s “F-1 Trillion,” Kacey Musgraves’ “Deeper Well,” Chris Stapleton’s “Higher” and Lainey Wilson’s “Whirlwind.”
When Swift, 35, read Queen Bey’s name aloud, the 32-time Grammy winner made a sudden movement before freezing in her chair.
Wearing a gorgeous hip-hugging champagne-colored dress, a blonde Beyoncé looked to the left and right before making eye contact with her daughter, Blue Ivy, 13, who instructed her mother to head toward the stage.
Fans caught the hilarious moment and immediately took to social media to laugh about the interaction.
“Blue Ivy Carter, first born daughter and Chief Executive Director of Family Operations, was like, “GET UP AND GO GET YOUR AWARD MOM!” one person joked on X, formerly Twitter.
“Not BlueIvy being like “girl just getup” to THEE BEYONCÉ #GRAMMYs,” echoed a second viewer. “Blue ivy looking at her mom like ‘what the f–k are you so shocked about’ is so funny to me,” wrote a third.
Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, was also sitting with his wife and daughter in the audience.
The “16 Carriages” singer expressed her utter shock over the win once she finally made it to the stage for her acceptance speech.
“Wow, I really was not expecting this. Wow. I want to thank God. Oh my God! That I’m able to still do what I love after so many years. Oh my God,” Beyoncé said while collecting the Grammy.
“I’d like to thank all the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it. I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent. Wow,” she continued.
“I’d like to thank my beautiful family, all of the artists that were collaborators, thank you; this album wouldn’t have been without you. I’d like to thank God again and my fans, and I’m still in shock.”
Beyoncé still has another possible big win ahead of her.
While she’s won the most Grammys of any artist in history, she has never won the award that matters most: Album of the Year.
Beyoncé has been nominated four times — for “I Am … Sasha Fierce” in 2010, “Beyoncé” in 2015, “Lemonade” in 2017 and “Renaissance” in 2023 — and she’s lost every time.
Many believe this could be her year, and with the Best Country Album win under her belt, her chances are high.
Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” is against some strong contenders though, including Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet,” Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” Chappell Roan’s “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” Charli xcx’s “Brat,” André 3000’s “New Blue Sun” and Jacob Collier’s “Djesse Vol. 4.”
