A small plane crashed in Northeast Philadelphia Friday evening, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) said.
“I’ve spoken with @PhillyMayor and my team is in communication with @PhillyPD, @PhilaOEM, and @PhillyFireDept,” Shapiro wrote on the social media platform X. “We are offering all Commonwealth resources as they respond to the small private plane crash in Northeast Philly”
Philadelphia’s Office of Emergency Management said local officials were responding to a “major incident” near Roosevelt Mall in the city, instructing the public to avoid the area.
The crash comes as the country is still reeling from a midair plane collision that killed dozens late Wednesday evening in Washington.
The Hill reached out to the Philadelphia Police Department, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
