For a team that went to the World Series last year, the Yankees have had plenty of overturn on their roster in just a few months.
Juan Soto, Gleyber Torres, Nestor Cortes, Clay Holmes, Tommy Kahnle, Alex Verdugo, Anthony Rizzo and Jose Trevino are gone (or in the case of Verdugo and Rizzo, going).
Cody Bellinger, Max Fried, Devin Williams and Paul Goldschmidt are in, and more imports could be on the way before the Yankees convene for their first full-squad workout in Tampa on Feb. 17.
A handful of questions loom over the Yankees’ roster heading into camp — who will play where Jazz Chisholm Jr. does not (at second base or third base)? Who bats leadoff? They’re not actually going to carry eight righties in the bullpen, right? — but when push comes to shove, there may only be a few spots up for grabs on the roster that the Yankees will take north.
