Caitlin Clark still can’t believe she got to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game alongside her idol Taylor Swift.
The Indiana Fever star, 23, surprised fans earlier this month when she was seen sitting next to Swift, 35, during the Chiefs’ divisional-round matchup against the Houston Texans.
The two were captured chatting and hugging as the Missouri-based team came out victorious, which Clark said was an “incredible” experience.
“I’m a huge Chiefs fan. I’ve been a huge Chiefs fan, and obviously Taylor is a huge Chiefs fan, too, so it was fun,” she shared in Monday’s episode of the “Swarmcast” podcast.
The WNBA player said it was “cute to see how excited Swift” was to support the Chiefs and boyfriend Travis Kelce.
“Getting to share that, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I love this! She loves the Chiefs as much as me. Like, this is incredible!’
“We had so much fun, and honestly it was the perfect game,” she continued. “The Chiefs won, it was close at halftime, Travis scores a huge touchdown for the Chiefs, we ended up winning. There was nothing crazy that happened, and we felt confident as it got to the end.”
The longtime Swiftie praised the “Fortnight” singer for making everyone in their suite feel at ease despite her superstar status.
“Taylor is very sweet and very kind, and it’s just a good reminder that people in our position… we are very normal,” Clark said. “Sometimes our lives aren’t normal, but we are very normal people, and we enjoy doing fun things, too.
“We enjoy watching sports and hanging out with our friends,” she continued. “It puts a great perspective of life and where you’re at in your career.”
Despite Swift’s down-to-earth demeanor, the athlete admitted she was a bit “starstruck” at first.
“Taylor is probably the most famous person in the world right now with what she has been able to do over the course of the last couple of years,” Clark said. “Obviously her tour has been tremendous, but the way she has been able to unite people, I think, has been the most powerful thing. I think it’s really cool and special.
“Being in that stadium and seeing the way everybody is passionate about something that is so fun and so easygoing is very uplifting and cool,” she added.
Clark saw Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour three different times after attending back-to-back shows in Indianapolis in November.
The following month, in her Time profile, the basketball star revealed Swift gifted her four bags of tour merchandise with a personalized note after the shows.
The “Blank Space” singer told Clark she was “inspiring” and was “excited” to attend one of her games with Kelce in the future.
Swift also “invited Clark to attend a Chiefs game,” which she quickly took her up on.
