Greetings, lovebirds! If you recently finished binging XO, Kitty Season 2 and are wondering when the show will be back with a new season, you’re not alone.
Season 2 kept viewers on their toes as Kitty (Anna Cathcart) tried her best to stay out of the drama for at least one semester at KISS. But drama always seems to follow this chaos queen!
Kitty began her semester hoping to get over her feelings for Yuri (Gia Kim) while continuing to explore her queerness for the very first time. But try as she might to focus on her new romantic interest Praveena (Sasha Bhasin) and on reconnecting with her family in Korea, Kitty and Yuri find themselves in a messy love triangle with Yuri’s girlfriend, Juliana (Regan Aliyah).
With Kitty and Yuri’s friendship on the rocks, Kitty found an unexpected ally in Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) who helps her reconnect with her cousin and grandmother. By the end of Season 2, it’s undeniable that there are some sparks flying between Min Ho and Kitty.
But could this mean the end of Yuri and Kitty? With how Season 2 ended, Yuri will need her friends more than ever when she returns to KISS for senior year.
Has the hit teen series been renewed for a third season? Here’s what we know.
Will there be an XO, Kitty Season 3?
Unfortunately for fans, the show has not been renewed for Season 3 just yet.
But there is a high chance that Netflix will continue the series considering the streamer previously greenlit an entire trilogy of the beloved To All the Boys films. The hit teen series is also still holding steady at number two on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV shows with 14.2 million views. XO, Kitty Season 1 also entered the Top 10 as 3.1 million viewers caught up on the first season.
What will XO, Kitty Season 3 be about?
The Season 2 finale set up quite a bit of drama for Kitty and the crew to return to in Season 3.
Kitty boldly asked to join Min Ho and his family on Joon Ho’s world tour in the Season 2 finale, which means Season 3 will pick up after they’ve spent the summer together. Will these lovebirds finally get over their hang ups and make it work this time?
Yuri, however, gets the devastating news that her family is being sued as part of a class action lawsuit, which Dae’s father is a part of. Their friendship will likely be put to the test again as their families become pitted against each other.
Showrunner Jessica O’Toole recently told The Wrap that there are many things to explore in Season 3 if the show does get renewed.
“Knock on wood, we’re seeing the end of their junior year, thinking about what it’s like to be a senior at the school. My son is a senior in high school right now, so he’s exactly their age and it’s such a rich area because it’s such a pivotal time in anyone’s life,” she said.
She later added, “It really puts all of your relationships into perspective, which I think can only make for more drama in a show like ours where it’s about relationships. Not just that, but the friendships put pressure on all of them in such a fun way. So if we’re lucky enough to do [Season 3], the sky is the limit.”
XO, Kitty is streaming now on Netflix.
