Call him the sperminator.
Just in case you thought stitching yourself up was hard: Plastic surgeon Chen Weinong in Taiwan made men of the world wince after giving himself a vasectomy on camera, as seen in Instagram footage with 4 million views.
“It was a strange feeling to touch and suture my own urethra,” declared the chop doc in the AI-translated caption of the nail-biting clip, which he uploaded to the platform for “educational purposes.”
“I am really brave,” he replied to viewers on Instagram.
The father-of-three had decided to get snipped as a “gift to his wife” to ensure that the couple didn’t have any more offspring. The fertile fellow opted for a vasectomy, a form of male birth control in which the surgeon cuts and seals the tubes that carry sperm, thereby preventing fertilization during sex, according to the Mayo Clinic.
“Vasectomy has a low risk of problems and can usually be performed in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia,” they write.
However, unlike most patients, Dr. Chen decided to go the DIY route for his prophylactic procedure.
Ready, set, snip.
The unconventional tutorial shows the surgeon in his chair performing the op on himself as he casually talks viewers through the process as if doing a makeup tutorial.
After applying anesthetic cream to numb the genitals, the fully conscious Dr. Chen carries out the self-surgery using a scalpel and surgical clamp.
While the procedure looked excruciating, the surgeon only visibly displayed discomfort once, leaning back in his chair in apparent pain. He then gathers his tools and resumes the operation.
While vasectomies typically last between 10-30 minutes, per the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Chen said his took twice as long because he performed it on his own anatomy.
Thankfully, his mastur-spay-tion method proved successful. Despite some initial pain and discomfort the night after surgery, Dr. Chen said he felt fine by the following morning.
Many commenters praised the self-sufficient surgeon for his bravery.
“It’s really awesome,” gushed one fan, while another warned others not to “try this at home.”
“Will there be a video of an obstetrician and gynecologist delivering her own birth later?” quipped one wit.
Meanwhile, some critics wondered about the legality of disarming one’s phallus.
Fortunately, a “preliminary investigation” by health officials found that there were no legal issues involved with his contraceptive stunt.
Dr. Chen said his DIY procedure was overseen by a urologist, who would’ve taken over if anything went awry.
