Will There Be A Silo Season 3 On Apple TV+?
Yes! On December 16, 2024, five episode into Silo Season 2, Apple TV+ renewed the series for Season 3 AND Season 4.
“It has been a richly rewarding experience to adapt Hugh’s epic novels with our partners at Apple, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this complete story to the screen over the course of four seasons,” showrunner and executive producer Graham Yost said in a press release. “With the final two chapters of Silo, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.”
“I’ve loved every minute of bringing Juliette to the screen and am immensely proud of what we’ve all created with Silo since the first episode,” added star and executive producer Rebecca Ferguson. “I have always felt passionately about telling the entire story contained within Hugh Howey’s books, so I couldn’t be happier that audiences around the world have enthusiastically embraced the show. Alongside our parters at Apple, Graham, and the entire cast and crew, I cannot wait to dive into these final two thought-provoking seasons that will beautifully conclude this dystopian tale.”
Silo Season 3 Premiere Date, Filming Updates: When Does Silo Return With New Episodes On Apple TV+?
Though an official Silo Season 3 premiere date has yet to be announced, production on Season 3 has reportedly begun, and based on past gaps, fans are anticipating at least a year wait in between seasons.
Season 1 aired from May to June 2023, then following the 2023 strikes, Season 2 aired from November 2024 to January 2025. While a late 2025 premiere may be possible depending on production, there’s also a chance that Silo Season 3 will premiere in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates!
Silo Season 2 Ending Explained: What Will Silo Season 3 Be About?
If you’re looking for a detailed play-by-play of Silo‘s Season 2 finale, Decider’s got you covered. But the key takeaways to keep in mind when thinking about Silo Season 3 occur in the finale’s final minutes.
Before the episode concludes, Juliette safely returns to Silo 18 and warns everyone inside not to go outside. As she attempts to reenter the silo, however, she meets up with a suited Bernard, who holds her at gunpoint until she puts his mind at ease, explaining that she wants to save the silo, stop people from going outside, and figure out how to disable The Safeguard Procedure that could poison them all. As they head back inside, Bernard and Juliette get trapped in the incinerator and it’s unclear if they drop to the ground in time to survive the flames. So that’s a cliffhanger that Season 3 will definitely need to clear up!
When Silo returns, it will also reveal the fate of Juliette’s dad, check in with Sims and Camille post-vault, and continue following residents in wake of Juliette’s return. Will Juliette revisit Silo 17 and reunite with Jimmy? Will we get more flashbacks to pre-silo world, like the one we saw in the finale’s final six minutes? And will we learn more about the Georgia congressman/engineer who likely helped create the silos? Seems likely, judging by Howey’s second novel, Shift.
“In 2007, the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN) outlined the hardware and software platform that would one day allow robots smaller than human cells to make medical diagnoses, conduct repairs, and even self-propagate,” the Shift synopsis reads. “In the same year, the CBS network re-aired a program about the effects of propranolol on sufferers of extreme trauma. A simple pill, it had been discovered, could wipe out the memory of any traumatic event. At almost the same moment in humanity’s broad history, mankind had discovered the means for bringing about its utter downfall. And the ability to forget it ever happened.”
In an interview with TVLine, Silo showrunner Graham Yost confirmed that although the second book doesn’t feature much Juliette, the Apple TV+ series plans to switch things up in Season 3. “In the book Shift, Juliette doesn’t appear until like the last page, right? It’s about this silo [No. 18], but it’s also the origin story of the whole silo project,” Yost told TVLine in August. “I would say that we have Rebecca Ferguson playing Juliette, and she is not just going to be in the last scene of the season.”
Will There Be A Silo Season 4 On Apple TV+?
Yes! As a reminder, Apple TV+ gave Silo an early Season 3 and Season 4 renewal halfway through its second season. According to a press release, “The fourth season of Silo will bring the series to its final, thrilling chapter, telling the complete story of Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels.” For those who need a refresher, the third book in the series is titled Dust.
Decider will be sure to update you on the future of the series when we learn more. Until then, Silo Season 1 and Season 2 are now streaming on Apple TV+.
