Will There Be A ‘Skeleton Crew’ Season 2 on Disney+? Jude Law And The Show’s Creators Weigh In

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has ceremoniously finished out its freshman season, providing us with laughs, tears, and a level of closure that all TV shows should strive for.

Even with Episode 8 seeing the kids safely returned to At Attin, Jod Na Nawood’s (Jude Law) endeavor to plunder the planet’s Mint comfortably quelled, and the parents finally giving their kids the freedom to help save their home, there is so much more that the show could and should explore, according to the fans.

In fact, after the Season 1 finale aired Tuesday on Disney+, viewers flooded social media channels like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram with calls to the show’s creators, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, to start drawing up plans for a second season… if they haven’t already, that is.

Much of the fan satisfaction derives from the wholesome fun and the kidlike wonder that Skeleton Crew was able to capture, something that Watts and Ford have opened up about in the past, including in Decider’s own interview with the creatives. The pair — who previously worked together on Spider-Man: Homecoming — told Decider before the show’s release that they wanted to hand the franchise back to families and make it something that every kid can imagine, find joy in, and learn something from.

Given the significance of the project both to the fans and to the co-creators, it’s no wonder that many want to know if Watts and Ford would put pen to paper for more adventures to send Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter), and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) out on in future seasons.

So, are the creators on-board with doing a Skeleton Crew Season 2?

“Absolutely,” said Watts when asked if he and Ford would want to continue the Skeleton Crew story after Season 1‘s conclusion. “It’s been so fun.” Ford, for his own part, chimed in with similar thoughts, saying he “definitely” wants to see more of the “core four” kids from At Attin who became galaxy-hopping fiends by the season’s end.

The pair kept tight-lipped on what their idea of a second season could look like, but made it more than salient that they would humbly accept the challenge and honor of adding more to one of the most beloved franchises in the world.

Similarly, Law — who started off the pilot season as an ally to the kiddos but showed his true colors as a villain and pirate as the show went on — expressed his own interest in returning to portray Jod again. He told Decider he would “absolutely” want to do Season 2, after previously stating that the Star Wars franchise is a “big part of his love affair with film.

As for what he would want to see should they receive another eight or so episodes, he admitted that it’s not up to him but there is always more to explore when it comes to a galaxy far, far away.

“I’m always a big fan of the new planets,” Law said of Season 2 ideas and storylines. “There are a couple of new planets, in our show, and the idea then of the design teams creating a whole new, look, and terrain [is something interesting].”

He continued, “I say more planets and more creatures.”

Sadly for all of the Skeleton Crew fans out there, the Disney+ overlords have not handed down a Season 2 renewal quite yet. While some Star Wars shows like Andor and The Mandalorian have successfully secured numerous seasons, Disney and LucasFilm swiftly canceled the most recent series, The Acolyte, after just one season. Here’s hoping our lovable group of ragtag kiddos don’t meet the same fate.

Skeleton Crew Season 1 is now streaming on Disney+.
