Tim Tebow is going to be a dad!
The former football star, 37, and his wife, Demi-Leigh Tebow, announced Tuesday they are expecting their first child.
“We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together,” Demi-Leigh told People.
The former Miss Universe, 29, is around 16 weeks pregnant and “feeling a lot better” compared to her first trimester, which she admitted “wasn’t super fun.”
“The amount of tiredness that you feel is just unfathomable,” she said.
Despite the rocky start, Demi-Leigh shared that she has “loved being pregnant” an gained “a new respect for moms, especially moms that are working.”
The reality of becoming a mom has also made her more thankful for her husband, whom she wed in January 2020 after two years of dating.
“I’m so grateful because I just couldn’t imagine a better life partner to do life with first and foremost,” she said of the former Denver Broncos quarterback.
“To be able to raise a little tiny human being together, I’m so grateful that Tim is my husband … that we get to do parenting together.”
Tim dittoed Demi-Leigh’s sentiment, saying he is “honored for the privilege of getting the responsibility and the joy of being mom and dad.”
However, the former NFL player said the reality of fatherhood hasn’t settled in amid his hectic work schedule for ESPN, which sees him traveling most weekends.
“But when I’m with her and I see the belly growing, then it just becomes so real,” he said.
The former University of Florida star said finding out he is going to be a dad completely “reprioritized and changed” the things he “valued most.”
“News like that just supersedes the level of importance and the level of joy that you have,” he shared.
Tim said he can’t wait to see his wife become a mother, noting that she “is going to be a fierce defender and protector” for their little one.
“She will be extremely loyal and loving. Demi is someone that is extremely determined,” he gushed. “When she sets her mind to something, she goes all the way in — and I know that she will do that as a mom, too.”
Meanwhile, Demi-Leigh pointed to Tim’s strong sense of faith as one of the many reasons he will make “such a great dad.”
“Our Savior gave us the ultimate amount of grace, and I see Tim live that out as a walking example every single day. … That is something that will be so instrumental,” she said.
“Tim is one of the most thoughtful people. He is literally one of the best gift-givers I have ever met,” she continued. “I just think that he’s one of the wisest people I have met — and I know that’s a bold statement to make, but I truly believe it. Just in the way that he approaches every single day.”
The pair also shared the news on Instagram alongside photos and video from their maternity shoot.
The couple, who wore coordinating white outfits, walked hand in hand through a grassy field while carrying a sonogram.
“Baby Tebow,” they captioned the sweet clip.
