R.I.P. Dalyce Curry: ‘Blues Brothers’ And ‘Ten Commandments’ Actor Found Dead In Altadena Following Eaton Fire

Dalyce Curry, a retired actress whose credits included being an extra in The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments and Lady Sings the Blues, died due to the wildfires ravaging Los Angeles, ABC7 reports. She was 95.

According to the outlet, Curry’s remains were discovered on Sunday evening (Jan. 12) at her home in Altadena, which was destroyed following the Eaton Fire. On Sunday, her granddaughter and part-time caregiver, Dalyce Kelley, shared the news on Facebook.

“#RIPMOMMADEE,” she wrote, referring to her grandmother’s nickname “Momma D.” “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”

Per ABC7, Kelley had taken Curry home at around midnight on Tuesday (Jan. 7) following a long day at the hospital. Kelley, unaware that the fire would become as destructive as it was, awoke to a text alert that Curry’s home had lost power. After immediately heading over to check on Curry, Kelley was informed by an officer that her “grandmother’s property is gone” and that “it totally burned down.”

The officer recommended that Kelley check the Pasadena Civic Center, where displaced residents were being sent. However, she was nowhere to be found. On Friday (Jan. 10), a member of the national guard escorted Kelley to the ruins, which she described to ABC7 as “total devastation.”

“Everything was gone except her blue Cadillac,” she said.

Loree Beamer-Wilkinson, another of Curry’s granddaughters, told ABC7, “She was very active, you would not think she was 95.”

Twenty-four people’s lives had been claimed by the fires as of Sunday, per the Associated Press. The AP reported at least 16 people missing at the time, though authorities said they anticipated that number to increase. Many in the entertainment industry have been vocal about the destruction of the fires, including Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Jamie Lee Curtis and James Woods.
