White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) chief Deanne Criswell will brief reporters Friday afternoon, as wildfires continue to devastate the Los Angeles region.
FEMA has already been on the ground in California, working with families who lost their homes in the deadly blazes. At least 10 people have been killed by the fires, thousands of people have been forced to evacuate and the water supply has taken a major hit.
President Biden on Thursday vowed to offer federal support to the Golden State for up to 180 days. He and Vice President Harris have also canceled trips and events in recent days in order to focus on combatting the wildfires.
Biden and other key administration officials held a briefing on the federal response earlier Friday.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EST.
