4-year-old boy in critical condition following exposure to fentanyl at NYC shelter

A young boy is fighting for his life after he was exposed to fentanyl at a Brooklyn shelter Tuesday morning and his parents have been taken in for questioning, police and sources said.

The 4-year-old child was unresponsive and in the middle of an apparent overdose when cops arrived at the Women in Need Inc. shelter in Flatbush just after 8 a.m., according to the NYPD.

EMS administered Narcan on the scene and rushed the tot to Maimonides Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition as of Tuesday night, cops said.

The boy’s parents were both taken into custody for questioning after investigators recovered drug paraphernalia inside the shelter for women and families, sources said. The paraphernalia will be tested.

The mother and father were both allegedly ingesting fentanyl at the time and exposed their child to the deadly drug, sources told AMNY.

As night fell, police and medical teams, including a hazmat team, remained on the scene.
