At the same time that Morgan Wallen was chasing his dreams to become one of country music’s biggest names, he was in an on-again-off-again relationship with Katie “KT” Smith.
The two began dating in December 2016 and a few months later, they announced their engagement.
Despite ending the engagement, the two were on and off until November 2019. The “Last Night” singer and the social media influencer went on to welcome their son, Indigo, in July 2020.
Smith was the first to move on from Wallen when she revealed in May 2023 that she was in a relationship with Luke Scornavacco.
They got engaged on March 30, 2024, before tying the knot a few days later.
As for Wallen, on April 7, 2024, he was arrested for throwing a chair at police below a rooftop bar after allegedly finding out about Smith’s wedding.

Smith was born in Florida and has two half-brothers
Smith was born on Nov. 13, 1994, in Florida. Shortly after, her parents got a divorce and her dad passed away from a heart attack when she was just 4-years-old.
According to her blog, Thot Thoughts, Smith described moving around “constantly” with her mom and attending over “10-15 schools.”
They eventually moved to Knoxville, Tenn., where they settled down.
“Regardless of moving, my mom still gave me the best life even being a single mom. We have the best memories together- and are still creating them,” she wrote.
Both her parents went on to remarry and each welcomed sons, whom she considers her brothers.
She prioritizes her faith
While growing up in Knoxville, Smith embraced her faith and completed several mission trips and even joined a youth group. She described the group as “one of the most consistent and happiest things” she had.
That all changed, however, when she was allegedly sexually assaulted by her youth pastor two years after she started attending.
“During all of that, I somehow never doubted God. That’s how strong I felt my calling to help other people through Him at such a young age,” she wrote in her blog.
A few years later, she joined Young Life, a Christian ministry that aims to help kids and teenagers grow stronger relationships with their faith.
Throughout her journey, Smith gave herself the nickname “KT” in eighth grade after believing that “Katie” was her “before Christ name” and she “wouldn’t go back to that.”
Smith works as a social media influencer
While attending church, she scored her “most fulfilling job ever” as a social media intern.
However, it wasn’t until Wallen announced that she had given birth to their son that she gained 100,000 followers, and her career kicked off as a social media influencer.
“A social media management company reached out to me and asked me to work for brands full time, and so I did just that. I ended up moving to a rental that was better suited for the little family we created,” she wrote.
Smith has since expanded her following to 444,000 followers as of April 2024 and focuses her content on parenting, fashion and lifestyle.
The mom of one has also partnered with several brands, including Free People, Tarte Cosmetics and Abercrombie & Fitch.
“I am doing so and working hard behind the scenes for this dream because I not only want to give my baby the world, I want to eventually use my platform mainly for God’s glory and sharing His word,” she wrote on her blog post.

Smith met Wallen on Snapchat in 2016
Smith and Wallen began dating in December 2016 after meeting on the app Snapchat.
They “hung out very often, started dating- and then got engaged within a few months.”
“We broke off the engagement but still dated consistently for about two years, living with one another for about three,” she wrote on the blog.
Smith and Wallen dated on and off for three years before breaking up in November 2019
Smith and Wallen ended their relationship for good in 2019, which she called a “rocky” year.
She described their relationship as “the kind of toxic, trauma bond you hear about on Tik Tok.”
“We were off and on the third year, still talking 24/7 and seeing each other every time he was in town and I would still go on the road with him.. But being thrown into the spotlight at such a young age is obviously going to come with some bad decisions. He wasn’t the most faithful..” she wrote.
She also admitted that transitioning from a “normal life” to dating “one of the best country singers out there” was difficult for her –– especially when “temptation is thrown” towards him on tour.
“I didn’t get it at the time, I just thought I wasn’t good enough,” she admitted.
“Life goes on and you realize that everything happens for a reason. Every single thing I mentioned above happened for a reason, and I grew to become thankful for it. Regardless of how terrible it was at the time, just knowing that me going through all of that- could help someone else.. Makes it worth it,” she continued.
Smith and Wallen welcomed a son together in July 2020
Smith and Wallen had already broken up when she got pregnant with their first child, whom they welcomed on July 10, 2020.
A few days after Indigo’s birth, Wallen announced it on Instagram, saying he was a “changed man.”
“I’ll be the Dad you deserve as well as the co-parent your mother deserves. Since you were born, I know that every decision I make will be with you in mind. I promise I’ll always protect you, and do my best to be an example of a good, godly man just like my daddy was for me,” he wrote in part.
Both Smith and Wallen admitted that co-parenting was ‘difficult’
Smith described co-parenting with Wallen as “extremely difficult” in the beginning, because she was “still bitter towards him.”
“After time passed and Indie became my life, I felt truly healed. He turned my life from going out and keeping myself distracted, to being a full time mom. That time with him brought all the healing I needed,” she explained in her blog.
Wallen also alluded to “some difficulties” in their early co-parenting stage, telling People that raising his kid without a wife was “not how I imagined parenthood.”
“I wanted to have a family like my parents. My parents are still together, you know,” he told the outlet. “They raised [me and my sisters] together. That was my idea of what my life would look like. That’s not the way it turned out. And I struggled with that a little bit when I first found out.”
However, by December 2021, Smith shared that their situation had improved and was “a million times better.”
“We can be a family without being together. We can co-parent our wonderful little boy and raise him up to be amazing without being together. We can stick up for one another without being in love,” she wrote in another blog post at the time.
She added that Wallen “is truly and deep down a wonderful person, who also makes mistakes that can be forgiven- because God always forgives, but more importantly- He loves his son and is a good father.”
Smith began dating Luke Scornavacco in 2023 and got married in April 2024
Smith announced her relationship with Luke Scornavacco in June 2023 with a beach selfie posted to social media.
Over the next few months, she shared several photos and videos of them traveling, spending time with Indigo, cooking and packing on the PDA.
Less than a year after going Instagram-official, Scornavacco popped the question with a 6.5-carat cushion-cut lab-grown diamond ring.
She announced the engagement on social media with several photos from the happy moment, captioning it, “why save the good things for later ❤️🔥.”
By April 4, Smith announced they had already tied the knot as she shared a selfie where she and Scornavacco held a marriage certificate outside the Wilson County Clerk’s Office in Tennessee.
Smith also shut down speculation that they eloped because she was pregnant.
Wallen was arrested for throwing a chair after allegedly finding out about the engagement
Wallen was arrested on April 7, 2024, after he allegedly threw a chair from the sixth floor of a Nashville bar and onto the street where he nearly hit two police officers standing outside.
The singer was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct. He smiled for his mugshot before paying his bail of $15,000.
Shortly after his arrest, the Daily Mail reported that Wallen allegedly threw the chair after finding out abut his ex’s elopement.
“KT’s marriage to Luke [Scornavacco] last week just crushed him,” a source told the outlet on April 8. “Whatever happened at that bar had to be reality hitting him in the face over losing the love of his life.”
The insider claimed that Wallen had “never gotten over her even though he couldn’t stay faithful to her.”
However, a source insisted to Page Six that the two incidents were unrelated.
