Hot Frosty on Netflix has everything: A snowman that turns into a hot naked guy, a strategically placed scarf for PG-13 censorship, and a pair of goofy cops played by beloved sitcom actors. Truly, what more could you ask for?
Hot Frosty, which began streaming today, is just one of many Netflix original holiday movies coming to the streamer this month. But this one certainly boasts the most ridiculous premise: A lonely woman named Kathy (Lacey Chabert) places a magical scarf around a snowman—or, more accurately, a chiseled humanoid ice sculpture—and transforms him into a human man (played by Dustin Milligan). Sure, he’s a little bit dumb, but he’s so very pretty. He might just be the perfect man for Kathy… as long he doesn’t melt before they get to kiss.
Directed by Jerry Ciccoritti, with a screenplay by Russell Hainline, Hot Frosty leans into its absurd campy vibe. The result is a very silly, but very entertaining Christmas movie. It doesn’t hurt that Milligan is nice to look at, and spends at least half of his screen time shirtless. But given that he is not actually made of snow, wasn’t he cold? Or was Hot Frosty was filmed in a warm location? Read on to find out more about the Hot Frosty filming locations.
Where was Hot Frosty filmed?
Hot Frosty was filmed in Ontario, Canada earlier this year, in April and May 2024.
More specifically, the exterior scenes of the downtown area in Hot Frosty were filmed in Brockville, a city in Eastern Ontario in Canada. According to a local news report from the city’s HometownTV12, the ice sculpture competition set was constructed outside of the Brockville city courthouse.
So there you have it! Yes, it’s cold in Canada—but not so much in the late spring, when the movie was filmed. Maybe that’s why Dustin Milligan looked so comfortable not wearing his clothes!
