‘Wheel Of Fortune’s Recent “Rhyme Time” Puzzle Leaves Fans Perplexed As To How “Absolutely” And “Positively” Rhyme

Whoever declared it to be “Rhyme-Time” on Friday night’s (Jan. 19) Wheel of Fortune episode might have to reset their watch.

Fans online are enraged by a puzzle featured in the “Rhyme Time” category that ultimately read “Absolutely Positively,” per The Messenger. While Jill Yawn successfully solved the puzzle, viewers were left befuddled and bothered by how the puzzle did not, in fact, rhyme, as promised by the category.

“SERIOUSLY???,” one fan wrote on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), while another argued that the two words “absolutely positively DON’T” rhyme.

One fan even checked out the comments section to ensure that they weren’t “the only one who thinks absolutely positively is not a rhyme.” We’re right there with you.

Some were a bit harsher in their responses, as one viewer announced that they are “calling horseshit” on the answer, while another asked if those behind the puzzle “are so fucking dumb they think those words rhyme?” One even went so far as to post that “this country is going to hell” in the wake of the perplexing puzzle.

Another opted to tag co-host Pat Sajak‘s daughter and WoF‘s social media correspondent, Maggie Sajak, urging her to “tell [her] father that ‘absolutely positively’ does not rhyme.”

WoF‘s fanbase has been known to be vocal about puzzles they deem unfair, or to express their disbelief as to how simple puzzles go unsolved. However, some of the most notable and critical one-liners arrive on set, such when contestant Jill Ashe was seen getting stumped by a Bonus Puzzle last month.

“What kind of puzzle is that?” she asked Sajak, to which he quipped, “A puzzle you didn’t solve.”

Wheel of Fortune airs on weeknights at 7:30/6:30 c. Check out their website for your local listings.
